It does not look like a take down but I kind of like it.

The Savages feel like cheap, plastic play guns. I will say they are light as EVERYTHING on the gun is plolymer. The trigger has to be at least 15 pounds as well. When I first seen it I got really excited until the clerk handed it to me then I realized it is going to be a collectors item on day when sales don't do very well.

As far as the Chiappa offering I don't think it is that bad. The rail section behind the trigger is probably for some sort of grip. Like this:

It would make the gun more comfortable to shoot for sure. For a true survival gun I think it is still a little too heavy at over 3 pounds but it is lighter than most other guns.

I've got a few .22LR's (both rifles & pistols) that are compact & lightweight which I often take backpacking, I am not personally an .22LR "survival advocate" though, as the advantages outweigh the disadvantages IMHO when surivial depends on keeping yourself/family fed w/enough calories not just to sustain each person's life, but to provide enough energy to preform constant, heavy, physical labor required to survive during the event.

That means being able to kill & eat everything that walks, runs, crawls, hops, swims or fly's, that you come across and a .22LR is simply not the best tool for that.

I can pretty much kill everything with a shotgun, heck I've even "fished" with a shotgun before, it was just for shits & giggles at first, but I quickly realized that a single blast, fired just above (but not below, doing so would cause back-pressure in the barrel & that would be bad) water level will cause the concussion to stun & float multiple fish of all sorts of sizes, basically any random fish in the immediate area of the blast.

Works sort of like fishing with dynamite or cherry bombs (hahhahaha hello NSA guys/gals) but is more limited since you have to be careful not to spook the fish prior to squeezing one off, since you are literally having to stand at the end of a dock or over the side of a boat, etc.

Savage did a remake of the over under .410/.22 combo.  Not an M6 remake though.

Chiappa also has a .22/.410 O/U.  It is called the 'Double Badger'.  Also not an M6 style, though.  It doesn't appear to be a take-down type but the blurb on the company website does say that it is 'foldable'.

I think it is a pretty nice looking firearm but don't know that I'd want to pay the >$300 price tag when the aforementioned Rossi can be had for half of that - even though it would be nice to have both barrels on the firearm and functional at the same time.

I didn't even see that one.  Nice looking but the only complaint I have is that front sight/mount/whatever that is.  Doesn't fit the rifle style.

Ram-line used to make hi-cap mags for the AR-7, but they were always finicky in my Charter Arms version.

I wish someone would really do a modern take on the M6.  It's kind of a limited market, but it's probably bigger today than it's ever been.

Had one, once upon a time. Left it loaded sittin' in the drawer and the ears snapped off durin' that time...sometime...and dumped all 25 rds into the drawer. Almost bought another online but changed my mind. Had to do a little filin' on the plastic to make it fit the Armalite, too. Not real top quality.

I wish they'd make an AR-7 in .22 mag. Or maybe a 10/22 takedown in the mag.

I wonder how much they would have to "beef it up" for .357Mag/.38 SPL?  That might make a handy little backpack gun.

Caster and I were discussing this and some other things.
