"Law Enforcement Today" Advises Police not to Kill Family Dogs

If I remember correctly there was a case just a couple years back that occurred on 24 westbound. Between chattanooga and Nashville where an officer pulled over a family on vacation because of a mistaken vehicle description or some such thing and he ended up shooting their dog when it got out of the vehicle. According to the family the dog was not behaving aggressively at all and was barely more than a pup. Anyone remember the case I'm refering to? Ill try to find a link to it.

 

That one was especially bad because the dog was in the car, the doors had been opened by the cops and the family was begging them to let them close the doors.

 

Oh, and the family was innocent of any wrongdoing. The father had left his wallet on top of the car and a bystander had witnessed money falling when they left the gas station.

I don't want to even think about it. If it happened to mine.....it would be very very bad.

 

I'm with you on this one, man. I'm scared what I might do if someone (including a cop) kicked in my door and shot one of my dogs.

 

I love my dogs JUST EXACTLY as if they are human members of my family...you mess with my dog, you're messing with my family. I'd defend them just like I'd defend my wife/kids.

On the no knock warrants and wrong addresses, all four of mine would get shot because they bark at the door being opened and run to it...not aggressive but to be petted by who ever is coming in. Not sure they wouldn't be aggressive though if it is a bunch of men and yelling going on though.
I've never understood no knocks though, I think unless you have a history of lethal violence towards police or destruction of evidence then they should knock normally. How about the few people that have been shot because of these? I know of two off hand that were like this: One involved an ex-soldier that grabbed his AR when he saw people sneaking around his house and the other of a guy that was "armed" with a golf club. Both caught multiple rounds to their center mass and died (both also in the process of disengaging when they realized it was police). Considering I sleep with a line of sight to my front door and both a shotgun and handgun next to the bed I guess me and my dogs would be a dead mofos.

Yeah, we tend to frown upon people shooting our dogs in the face, kind of a deal breaker with us...
