that looks ok i guess, but uh, where's the rest of it?

It's invisible!

nice lookin lower mad, good start to a solid build. any specs on the rest of it?

Probably just a basic 16" with adjustable stock. Not into tacticool accessories or anything, though I will go with a flat-top upper and add the handle.

Something like this:

You're off and runnin'.

What components are you planning on going with?

I'm gonna get the Anvil Arms full upper (16"bbl) and the adjustable stock - that's about it.

Ho-hum compared to many, but I'm a pretty low-key guy with my firearms...

Nothing wrong with that. You'll save yourself a whole bunch of money. I kinda planned on going a similar route, but I quickly drifted from my original plans. I tried to stay within a budget, but that went out the window shortly after I purchased the stripped lower.

Fill us in on your progress.

What is this "budget" you speak of?

Oh, I will. And you have to pretend to be interested.

I attepmted to stay around $1000 (not including optics), but I'm well over that so far.

Ahh, I ruined the joke - bad delivery...

I don't really have a budget, I'll just do it as I have the time and cash.

I'm a research hound about stuff like this and so I took my time to pick the manufacturer I wanted to buy from, and Anvil fit the bill perfectly.

Ahhh....I now see what you were getting at. You're exactly right, in my case anyway. Budget smudget.

I think im gonna keep my lower stripped for now and just get a Sig 556 lol....unless I can find a quality not over $1,000 9mm flat top upper.

Course im not completely sold on .223/5.56 so maybe an Alexander 6.5 sbr upper would be in order.

Remember the old Lays potato chip commercial - Betcha can't eat just one!

Same applies here- except you usually end up with more than one :screwy:

I've got so many other things I want before a second AR, I'm thinking they'll be banned before I fully catch BRD...

So many combinations and so little time....I say 6.5 upper but SBR'd

I'm gonna start with a 5.56 upper, but I've been feeling ill ever since I got this receiver in. I suspect BRD...

Honestly, I have no budget - I'm just going to build it as I can. When I've priced it out as I think I'm going to build it, it's come out under $1k, but who knows? I'll definitely let you guys know as it moves forward...

Woot! Took a bit (ordered the parts from Anvil Arms in early October) but my upper and remaining parts arrived today - I know what I'm doing tonight!

Do you have a buffer with it?

Nope, the heavy buffer was apparently left out of the packaging!

That looks like a Starrett Crystal Pink Granite Surface Plate. Do you work in the machine trades?
