Magazine cleaning?

Do you guys clean your magazines? If so, any special way?

Yes. I just pull a dry clean cloth through it to get the dust and such out.

Brake cleaner (I like WearEver brand found at AdvanceAuto) and a brush.

I just used the rag with solvent on it to wipe the outside off. Then used a can of air to get the inside, but I know i need to get some cleaner in there.

If I get bored I take them apart and run a cloth down the case and spray some RemOil on the spring.

Yes. I will disassemble them, and wipe down all the parts with a dry cloth. I do not use oil on any part of the mag.

I use kerosine or hoppe's on mine and a stiff brush. I do take them apart to get the gunk out.

I clean and Rem Oil mine every ~500 rounds. Its so simple to disassemble, why not?

If they begin malfunctioning, I will clean them. In this way, I've had to clean about 10 mags in 25 years...

Those brushes are nice, but I really don't see how they can be better than some solvent and a rag. Or a pipe cleaner, like sean says.

I use a patch on a plastic cleaning rod and do not leave any lube inside them.

GLOCK mags get cleaned once a year by taking apart, using a plastic tooth brush and CLP.....

Metal mags get cleaned once or twice a year depending on how many times they have been used, cleaned the same as above.

I'll disassemble mine every once in a while and clean them out with some Simple Green and a toothbrush. Maybe once a year...

Geez! Now I feel like I'm cleaning mine too much. I always clean them when I clean the gun. Since I already have the cleaner and tools out, and it takes no time to do it. I figure, why not?

No reason not to. It's just un-necessary...

Remember also, that I don't clean my regular shooting pistols until they start to jam (which for the XDs has always been well into the second case, or sometimes the third). So the mags generally have a combined gunk buildup of a couple thousand rounds, plus dirt from dropping them... which is usually alot. I clean the carry guns more... usually moreso on an interval basis (every month or two), than a round-count or their performance.
