I saw that and thought "Holy cow, just like back in the 70s'". They will be teaching 1st Graders! I know its a program FOR K-3, but one article I read they will be teaching it IN THE SCHOOLS.

 

It was optional for us as well. Optional until my father (A life member) said "You WILL take the class". I wanted to anyway. I wanted that patch. Needed to actually, to go hunting you had to pass the course to get a license at my age.

 

It wasnt Eddie Eagle back then though, it was the "Youth Hunter Safety Course". And unlike Eddie Eagle, you could take it as long as you were under 14. I bet it's even better today than it was back then.
