Have Your Heard the Not-So Latest?

I'm glad I don't depend upon state legislators as a news source.  State Rep. Art Swann finally notified me today that HB 42 died in committee--four months ago.  If you remember, that was the one which would take the teeth out of the federal "military-style weapons" and hi-cap mag ban push earlier this year.  Here's his email:

"Thank you for your message regarding your support to House Bill 42 by Representative Joe Carr / Senate Bill 100 by Senator Joey Hensley which as introduced would prohibit the enforcement and prosecution of certain federal law implemented or executed on or after January 1, 2013, concerning certain firearms, firearms accessories or ammunition.

"As an update, House Bill 42 failed in the Civil Justice Subcommittee of the House Civil Justice Committee on March 13, 2013, and its companion bill, Senate Bill 100, was assigned to the General Subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 9, 2013. The Tennessee Legislature completed our session on April 19, 2013.

"I appreciate your letting me know of your concern with this measure. If I may be helpful to you at the State level, please do not hesitate to contact me."

Sincerely,

Art Swann

That's really a passionate letter coming from someone with an "A" grade from the NRA.....just  like kissing your sister.
