TN tax rate on RV's...?

I just cannot believe I can't find this.  I live in Chattanooga and I'm dickering on an RV and I'd like to know how much the taxes are gonna be but I can't find it anywhere.  Do any of you guys know what the tax rate is on a Fifth Wheel?

I assume it is like any other big purchase. 7% state tax on first 1600 and the the 2-2.75% county tax. I bought a boat last month in fl and trying to register it in tn i have to pay taxes on it. A 28k boat cost me 1900 in taxes.

Now if you are buying a used rv, you could work with the seller to provide a bill of sell for a lesser amount to help with taxes, but if you are buying new, the bill of sale will be pretty concrete

There used to be a cap on the state tax and then the whole amount on the county tax. Not sure if that is so now.

I'm pretty sure it's the state sales tax rate. I bought mine in KY, and their tax rate was lower. I only had the option of paying Ky tax for the purchase and making up the difference to Tn to get a tag for it.

Dang...I finally found it. The local rate is 2.75% up to the first $1600  ($44 maximum) and seems to be true in most, but not all, counties.  Then you add 7% of the total amount paid for state.

well if you bought it for say 20k but then paid him another 10k to wash it before you leave
