I hope every penny this dumba$$ makes for the rest of his life (if he ever gets out of jail) goes to the family of the victim for wrongful death.

That's freakin' great, the sporting rifle owning community now has a new spokesperson. Meet Andrew Meyer, Jr...the new face of America's gun owners. Edited by BigK

I'm beginning to wonder who is really the greater threat to gun rights, the anti gunners or stupid a$$ gun owners like this. what difference did it make if the gun was semi auto or full auto, safety rules are the same either way. this guy needs to do serious jail time.

Jesus. A while back I had seen these incidents like 3 weeks in a row, and mentioned elsewhere that this is ridiculous, someone, mostly kids, getting shot negligently every week.

The most serious issue here, of course, being that this absolute, total dumbazz killed a baby, there are others. It doesnt matter if you are Massad Ayoob or the guy down the street who owns a .22 to take your kid shooting now and then, incidents like this make every last one of us look like an accident waiting to happen to those who hate firearms, don't understand firearms, or just gives opportunity to those would would take away a Constitutionally Protected Right.

I would never say "it wont happen to me", but doing things properly will mitigate this sort of crap. I have a healthy "FEAR" AND respect of/for firearms. I know what they can do. As most everyone here does. I have seen it with my own eyes, I can only imagine what those parents thought when they saw the after effects of a 5.56 round after tearing through that baby. I dont know these people from Adam, but I cannot say this does not make me sick to my stomach every single time I read this sh__.

I have no idea what the solution would be to stop this from happening. Every single solution that I know of is an infringement on the 2A of having Government interference with exercising your rights. Yes you have to have a license to drive a car, but there is no Constitutional Right to drive a car, only free movement between the States. MANDATORY training brings in the Governments, sate and federal, often shot down by most firearms owners, and the same when brought up on Gun Sites. You cant Legislate an individuals actions. Permits are out of the question.

If someone doesn't come up with a viable solution, and this keeps happening, the Anti Gunners will and eventually they will win. And not this stupid "Smart Gun" tech BS that a couple of guys have been peddling for years. Serial Numbering, Microstamping, Registries, none of it is worth a rats behind.

Personally I dont think there is a solution for stupidity. And I dont feel one iota of pity for what this dumbazz may be going through after shooting a child negligently. "I didnt know" is no excuse, and no excuse will not cover it. Forget a "reason".

I have a daughter. I am sure every parent here feels the same way, I live for my daughter. I would give everything, including my life for my child. I can understand most everything or figure out most everything around me, in my environment.  If something were to happen like this, it would be so far beyond my comprehension and ability to understand, retaliation would not even be considered, because I would probably lose my fricken mind.

But guns are here, and they are not going anywhere, this Country was founded with firearms, defended with firearms, and we have defended other Countries  with Americans using Firearms. The Constitution was not written as "working document", only to be interpreted. And the only interpretation needed for the 2A is exactly what is says.

So what are you going to do....

Sorry about the rant, but who else you going to rant to? Responsible firearms owners know, and thats about it.

BTW, here is that baby that dumbass killed.

The Grandmother and Grandfather are posting comments on the news articles, heart wrenching to say the least. The girl isnt from Grants Pass, she is from Texas, where her Grandmother and father were when it happened, which makes it worse as far as I am concerned (Although this couldnt get any worse really) but this happens while the father is in Texas. There was an update 5 minutes ago that the Police are investigating this as an intentional shooting. The dumbazz told the police that he dropped the gun down the stairs and it "Went off, shooting everybody". He said that when he called them on the phone, but when they got there he said he was using it as a crutch and it went off. The cops dont believe it since there were two bursts, not one shot and one burst followed by the fact that the little girl was found in front of the house and had been hit in the head, had she been hit in the head upstairs she likely would not have been able to run outside. But the PD is also saying there is still mass confusion on what happened.

I suppose there is the possibility this moron was using a full auto rifle as a crutch to climb the stairs and dropped it. But then I have to ask "At what level of stupidity do you have to be to use a full auto rifle as a crutch to climb a set of stairs" and at what level of stupidity do you have to be as the owner of the full auto rifle to allow a transient to do it?

Oh, and the full auto rifle is illegally owned (According to the Grants Pass PD), so I would suspect the actual owner will be spending some time at Camp Fed along with this dumbazz.

EDIT: 56 minutes ago.

The little girl and her mother were visiting friends there, but just what Meyer was doing in the apartment with the rifle was unclear. Court records say his fiancee had kicked him out of her place, getting a restraining order, and he listed his current residence as his sister’s home.

Meyer listed his occupation as lead bouncer at a Mexican restaurant, where he has worked for two years.

Though his fiancee, Victoria Kohout, told authorities that Meyer was a “big teddy bear,” her June 20 petition for the restraining order described him as an “unpredictable drug addict” who had threatened her with a gun, and threatened to burn down her house, slash her tires and break the windows on her car. The judge noted in the file that Meyer had four guns.
