Marlin 39as

Recommended Posts

I am currently trying to purchase a Marlin lever rifle. Stamped on the barrel is "Marlin Original Golden 39-AS" I can find info on 39a, m, etc but nothing on the "as" what is this elusive thing? What little I can find is it has a smooth stock and this "as" model came out about 1984 possibly and started the checkering on the stock in the early '90's

its not straight or stainless. I believe the straight stock was the "mountie" 39m

Ah, here ya go, apparently designates the change over to safety.  Actually, both hammer block safety and rebounding hammer.

Thank you that was a great help! I do not expect to win the auction, however I'm crossing my fingers.
