Could you drop the gun and insert a naked lady?

Just kidding....

BTW, Open Office is a free application. I'm using their version of Word these days, although I'm registered on Word.

Just as long as it has a hammer....

quick question....do we not allow open carry???

My opinion as a consumer and HCP supporter is that if a gunshop doesnt allow legal carry in their shop, they are part of the problem and you shouldnt support them.

My policy as a gunshop owner is that legal carry is allowed and encouraged, but they must keep all loaded handguns in their holster.

I agree with Joe here. A gun store is kinda being hypocritical that doesn't allow concealed carry with licensed permit holders in my opinion. On the other hand, I've seen some morons with loaded guns in my store that even if they had their permits, shouldn't be carrying a gun anyway.

I'm with Joe on his policy.... keep it holstered. If your trading your carry gun in to me, please unload it in your vehicle and present it then.

The way I see it, and you gun store owners correct me if I'm wrong, if I am carrying in a holster (mostly covered) that is not the "loaded gun" you are talking about, you don't want some yahoo dropping a gun on your counter to 1. be worked on or, 2. to trade or, 3. to sell or, 4. to see what holster fits the gun the idiot shoud never have had in his grubby hands in the first place. Right?

Exactly the point here. The people that are are actually competent are not the ones I worry about.... its the morons that wanna play show and tell. I honestly don't mind the customers that are holster shopping and bring their firearm in.... but then theres the...idiots.

I swear, I had one customer passing his loaded revolver around to random customers... people are that stupid that they'd actually hand a complete stranger a loaded weapon to 'play' with. Then there are those that want to 'clear' the gun before they show them... almost always pointed at someone while unchambering the round.

I honestly think a property/store owner should have the right to ask to see HCP credentials at times....

Well, you know, "holstered".

Anyone who might use this on store, whaddy think?

Maybe should just say "legally carried firearms" as catchall?

Because that statement isn't tactful or business like. Also, by law they do not have to show your their HCP on request unless your a LEO.

I do ask idiots to leave though... although still in a polite manner.

Well I didn't mean say exactly that, but something to that effect. But I don't own a shop so to each their own.

I sort of thought that was what the "holstered" meant as opposed to concealed.

+1

Keep it HOLSTERED (in the holster, open or not)

or LEAGALLY CONCEALED (meaning we expect our CC customers to have valid permits)

This is probably the most responses I've ever got for a thread where I was the OP. I bet if I started a thread called "Why Gun Owners Should Support Obama," I would have received less response. Also thanks to OhShoot for the signage. I just printed a copy off on good paper in "presentation mode" on my printer and it looks great. Going to laminate it and stick it on my home office door.

I do have one question... just for giggles, What if we (shop owners) put up the sign "inviting" customers to carry. Wouldn't that make our liability go up if something went down? Wouldnt it be in the shop owners best interest just to not post anything?

I wonder what would happen liability wise if someone was carrying, walked to the door of a shop and saw the sign saying guns must be unloaded. Then looking around and not finding any type of barrel of sand or other device to point his weapon into as he unloaded, cleared his weapon...but, BANG! and someone gets hurt.

Unfortunatly in this country a person can sue someone for anything....and a lot of times get away with it.

Does anyone see a liability issue for the gunshop here? If you are requiring a person to unload their weapon on your premises, should you provide them a safe way to do so?

I guess you could always say that the CCW should have been more careful, or left the premises. BUT, again, in this country.....

Yep, your right... and if you dont train them on how to unload it in a bbl or device... then your still upa creek. I think Im just going to put up a sign that says all firearms have to be checked by a staff member. It then covers everyone. That way if a HCP holder comes in they just have to notify, and we can handle each case as we see fit. If a HCP comes in, them just telling us is fine... we will respond, "hey just keep it holstered"... or something to that effect. If they need to try it in a holster then they need to let us clear it.

Anyone have a problem with that?

Im up for more suggestions....
