So Ive decided to add a set of fixed night sights to the Walther P99. There are 2 types available.

Meprolight which have the green front & rear sights or

Trijicon which has the green front & the option to choose green Orange or yellow for the rear.

Are there any major quality diff between the 2 brands? My G26 has Trijicons all green & its atleast 8yrs old & still as bright as the day I bought it. As far as price they are the same price so that doesnt really matter. I found a Guy up in Gallatin that Ive heard nothin but great things about to do the install & it seems reasonable to me. He just told me to get the sights & he would get them on for me.

For three dot style nightsights, I prefer Meprolights (bigger white dots that won't fade with time/cleaning solvents).

Trijicon's white is painted on...Meps are inlayed.

Durability is the same with both.

I currently have Trijicon on my carry piece (H&K USP 40c) and as Todd said, the white around the sights have faded/dulled. I figured the next night sights I boufgt would be Meprolight as well.

DavidD...Testors white model paint with bring Trijicons back to life.

Apply with a toothpick and wipe off the excess with a papertowel...viola, like new.

Meprolight is my choice, and in my opinion are hands down better than Trijicon....

I think they're brighter and last longer as well.

I've just installed some mep's on a 220 and I have the original Siglight factory sights by Trijicon on a 226. Both are tritium encased in glass vials. No paint. Granted, the Trijicons are about 20 years old now, but still holding a cast about 1/3 of the meps (tritium has a half life of approximately 11 years). I like them both.

Trijicon makes all the tritium vials for Mepro and some of the others. So longevity and durability are all the same. I like the Mepro's better due to design.

I have Triji's on both my HK and my XD. Haven't had a problem with the white coming off but that may mean I don't shoot/clean them enough.

Not true.
