Roofing rant - Ambassador Construction

Recommended Posts

I normally don't do stuff like this but I'm pissed. If you need a roof and you're in the Mount Juliet area, avoid Ambassador Construction like the plague.

I'll try to keep it short.

A storm ripped up my roof a few years ago. Ambassador storm chases and tells us we need to tarp. I call my insurance company to ask their advice and they agree. I check out Ambassador (BBB looks good, owner seems honest) so I let them do the work. It takes their sales team the better part of a month to produce two sets of sample shingles. I pick the midgrade set with a 40 year warranty. We submit the expenses to our insurance company, they agree to it and send the check. Ambassador stops communicating with me. I wait weeks with no word. Go home for lunch one day to find at least 30 Latino's on my roof, no problem with Latino's but not a single one speaks English so I can't ask them any questions. They slap the roof on without a word and leave. Job seems ok so we deliver the checks to Ambassador. They say we need to submit for more money from insurance. Almost $10,000 for this roof on a 1440sqft house. Insurance surprisingly pays it. My wife learns along the way they didn't put down new decking despite the fact it was paid for. Two weeks later it rains and I've got two leaks. Call ambassador and they come out and fiddle around. Next rain, one of the leaks is back. Call again...  (here's where it gets interesting).

This time instead of a worker, I have 3 guys show up in collared shirts. One of them is a lawyer. He says that they are in a legal battle with the shingle manufacturer and are trying to replace our roof but it is tied up and will take time "but don't worry, we will take care of you". A few months later, the leak is back. I call again and throw a fit. I ask for the lawyer who's employed by Ambassador, they give me a NEW lawyer who tells me the old lawyer was new and didn't know what he was doing "no one is complaining about these shingles, there's no case". They send someone out to fix the leak. Haven't seen anything from that leak in a few months

Sitting on my couch this evening and a storm rolls in "plop, plop, plop" the first leak is back ....

I have nothing positive to say about this experience and will NEVER recommend their work to anyone and I hope you all learn from my lesson.

I dont know a whole lot about it but my brother is a Master Carpenter. Been a Carpenter for almost 30 years, I have seen some of his work on super high end homes and expensives decks.  He started truck driving school last week, no more money in Carpentry, too many illegals in the country doing the work for a third of what a good carpenter used to make. And you get what you pay for. (Or what you pay for and they pay the illegals).

One of his biggest complaints for the last few years now is the Americans, who are not Carpenters, know nothing about Construction, and have never even contracted, will start a Company, hire a bunch of illegals, make a fortune at the expense of the American Worker while doing shoddy work.

My parents live in Mt. Juliet, the roofing contractors have worn their doorbell out over the last couple of years.

^that. Reports can be faked.

Make sure your insurance company is aware of the current and potential future problems.  If that leak isn't fixed, it'll cause more damage and another claim.  A nasty gram from an insurance company's attorney is likely to get more attention than one from an individual.

Sounds like a lawsuit to me. Get the insurance company in on it. I wouldn't be talking to their lawyer, either. He's

going to blow hard, and not for you, at all.

Get the money completely refunded and get someone else to fix it. Oh, and take plenty of pictures. If they don't

want the bad press, they should settle quick. Don't give an inch, either.
