IL, CA, & NY  are still "Shall not enter States" for my purposes.

Just say the entire new England area, and CA. and IL.

I know some celebrate that all states now have some form of citizen carry laws, the NRA often boasts about how many states have carry laws but in reality it's next to impossible for an average citizen to get a carry permit in many states such as New York, New Jersey etc. California unless your name is Feinstein. Years ago I bought a booklet called Legally Armed in Tennessee at the show in Nashville, it gave recommendations of how to store your firearm in some states when traveling. In many states then it recommended storing in a case or box unloaded with the ammo stored seperately, then it recommended that before crossing into New Jersey, stop on the Deleware River bridge and throw all firearms into the river. In many states I wouldn't want to be caught with any firearm even stored properly, those states I will avoid weather i'm armed or not, I turned down a trip to Metropiolis IL casino not long ago for that very reason, besides Aztar is closer and in a free-er state.

We can take a page from the liberal book. This is the chapter on "incrementalism".

I have to drive across the southern tip of Illinois between the Miss. River and Ohio River bridges to get to Paducah, KY or Tennessee without adding lots of miles to my trip.  I have family in Smyrna and Manchester and visit fairly often.  I agree on NY and CA but have family in Illinois but don't visit very often.  Not having to disarm before the border of Illinois will make the trip more pleasant.

I also have family in Illinois, but before I trust the Illinois State Police or any of the local PD's up there with knowing the new laws I will keep locking my gun and ammo up as before. I don't want to be the first test case for The Peoples Republic of Illinois new gun laws. Down state, in southern Il. it may not be too big of a problem. But if you are going anywhere near Chicago, Cook, Dupage, or Will counties I wouldn't chance it until they get all the rules sorted out.

I lived up there for 48 years and there is no reasoning with the Il. State Police.  :taser:
