Randall Confederate Bowie

I have wanted one of these knives for several years, I have owned 2 other models in the past, so I decided that I would order one special for me customized with my initials and a few other things that should keep me from ever being able to sell it!

I put $50.00 down and think I have about a 4 to 5 year wait, hopefully it will be less than that, it will look like this except it will have Silver Nickel Harware

After talking with the folks at Randall for over an hour, I decided to go with their Smitsonian Bowie this is a bigger knife and a replica of the Bowie knife in the Smithsonian museum

Possibly 18 months for delivery, much better than I originally thought

Whatever you do Mike do not start poking around the Internet for information on Hinderers, Chris Reeve, Yuna, Jeremy Horton, etc, etc.

The cool thing about knives to me is that there are a million different variations limited only by the artist's creativity. You should try to make the Blade Show next year. It's mind boggling.

Too late. I have a Sebenza 25. I haven't posted yet, because I'm thinking about sending it back for a fluff and buff. I've also been thinking of ways to scam an XM-18. Haven't been bit by the custom bug yet, but you guys aren't helping with that :)

Yes,

The order has been placed, unfortunately October 2017 is the delivery date quoted, oh well I have wanted one for a long time, and Fred I will get him a Big Brother MOAB probably before delivery!

I know Mike,

He will try to get it done before, with any luck they will I was going to order one in 2010 similar to this and was told 6 years back then so it could be worse I guess.

I think CRK will add inserts to your 25 if you send it back to them, is that what you are planning for her?
If it is a matter of the blade being off center, that is my fault for loosening up the torsion screws,

I would be more than happy to fix that for you when I get back, I am getting ready to fly down under at the moment

I love my Sebenza but I carry my Umnumzaan a lot more. Just feels sturdier to me. However, I carry my XM-18 more than either of them. In my opinion its the grail of production folders.

No. They don't offer inserts for the 25 yet. Besides, you talked me out of that. I'm more than comfortable adjusting the pivot. I even keep a bottle of purple loctite. Actually, the clip is slightly bent (twisted), and I don't think I can twist it back without ganking up the finish. For the cost of a clip (25 bucks maybe), I can send it home and get the slabs blasted as well. I also wouldn't mind  having the stock lanyard stuck back on it. From what I've seen, an off center blade on a Sebbie ain't that rare. It has a LOT of lock bar tension.

Don't sweat it, man. I'm thrilled with the deal. I just don't mind waiting to put it back in new shape, since I probably won't carry it much. I'm hung up on my po' man's Hinderer right now. I love that knife.

Aw, the Inron 803 is just as good ... if not, I'm out $17.00 each!

I'm guessing Rick would like to squeeze their little Chinese heads until they pop

You know, I got these before I even knew they were a direct rifpoff, wasn't familiar with his XM line at the time. I  only knew about the SRM 710 being a bit too close to the small Sebbie (710 is a nice little blade too, btw), but didn't know about this till after the fact of grabbing one either.

And actually, the Inron is a nice functional knife, nice blade flip, lockup is good, decent 9CRMOV13 steel. And the SRM 710 is also a pert well made blade too. Feel a bit guilty having them now, though.

I don't think either one of those are close enough to be passed off as the real thing. There are some true knockoffs out there, like this...

Oh, SRM, Navy, Enlan, Inron etc don't make counterfeits, they're all clearly labeled, not trying to be something they're not. Hell, they're the companies that make the "American Chinese" stuff in the first place for big name companies like Buck, Sypderco, Kershaw, CRKT, whoever.

They've just been becoming more and more known for their knives outside of China under their own brand names. Being more of a $20-100 knife aficionado than gravitating to high end offerings, I'm actually quite a fan of some of them, probably have about 20 various.

But it is true that a few custom designs have perhaps been overly "interpreted" by them.
