furloughs for soldiers now?

Just heard on the radio that soldiers may be hit with a 1 day per week furlough. Anyone know if that's true or not?

Those guys/gals already get a furloughed paycheck, they need to be left alone.

I call BS on this one. It would be too much of a hassle to keep track of who has taken off and who hasn't.

 

It is likely scare tactics. I seen it when I was in. Seems like every other year we were told we might not get a paycheck for a month or two if the government didn't pass a budget. I never had a paycheck that was late.

I just heard the same thing on Fox News a few minutes ago.  It appears to be limited to the National Guard and I suppose to their Annual Training period otherwise the 1 day per week furlough doesn't make sense.  I think our president is still working to make the Sequestration as painful as possible while he takes $100 million trips to Africa.

This will not affect AD guys.  It'll hit NG/Res people.  I'm not sure about AGR though.

 

A couple years back when they weren't going to pay the military, people were still expected to show up to work.

This and to expand on it, Military Technicians are civilian workers with military affiliation. Example is, a Technician is a civilian worker (GS pay grade) during the week at an ANG base and is part time ANG for the one weekend a month, 2 weeks a year deal. To confuse things further, they also wear their military uniform during the week since they are dual status.

Makes a lot of sense, spending a bunch of money on a trip to Africa, while our soldiers receive furloughs.  Washington is so F'ed up!!!

I know for Army Reserves. But from my undertanding a plan had to be put in place for all Services starting July 1st. There are some special units this does not effect. One day per two week pay period off. Most of mine are making it up with Military Duty.

Of all possibilities to cut from, they choose this as the best option. Sickening.
