Trout Fishing (Wading) Near Morristown

Recommended Posts

Howdy all, this year I started fly fishing but moved to Morristown. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for here and Green county where I could wade fish for trout? Its been a lot of fun but the move and TVA release in the tailwaters has been depressing for about a month!

The water release schedule is subject to change...they should just say we are gonna be generating 24/7 with the exception of the times you cannot come fish. Seems my luck on the caney

Holston river has trout. My friends and I have caught quite a few over the years. It is about 30 minutes from Morristown. It is the river Cherokee dam releases into. You might have to go a little farther to get away from the dam.

When I lived in Kingsport 20 years ago, many people would not eat any fish south of Eastman.  Just remember below Cherokee dam, the same water flowed past Eastman.

Buffalo Springs is a short drive away and easy to wade. You can start at the falls and go down or start down and wade back up to the falls. You just have to be there on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning when it gets stocked as the local "corn" fisherman pull em out as fast as TWRA puts them in.
