Not any time soon . They are in the trials phase.  There is a good write up on Wikipedia.

This. Been watching this for the last couple of years so far.

If I can distinguish present time from future time in Russian, their army does not order any more AK 74 from IzhMash. IzhMash has the order to build AK for some US government agency. Which does not mean we will see them in local gun shop.

Glad to see that they are changing the sight radius on the AK.  I've always felt that it was the only weakness the AK had.

Not really - the old leaf sights are still on the thing - just a picatinny rail added for a red dot

On the AK47 and 74, the rear sight was forward of the receiver.  On the AK12, it's mounted on the rear of the receiver, but it does look like the old leaf sight.  Still that is a improvement!  Plus you probably still replace the leaf sight with a peep is you are so inclined.
