AAA is good stuff.

Saved the wife in the middle of KY at 0300 when she ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere.

Have a lot of good discounts in addition to the roadside assistance. We rented a car in Florida for our trip and it saved us $100 just from this one rental over anywhere else online, which paid for the membership

AAA is way too expensive for what you get IMO. Had it, broke down on 24. Only covers the first 10 miles of towing. Towing is about the only thing that might be hard to cover out-of-pocket and it was useless for that (ane even that's not much of an issue these days).

 

Compare to the RAC or AA in the UK. I got towed 120 miles, no cost to myself.

I believe I have the gold. which covers 100 miles of towing.   I have used that several times over the years.

 

AAA has been good to me.

We have the platinum coverage(or whatever the highest level is) and it has more than paid for itself every year.

I have had years I didn't use it at all, I have had years I used it 4 times with multiple tows.

 

It is higher then some services, but I have great peace of mine for my wife and myself having it.

We have free roadside & replacement car via Chevy until 2016, paying extra to get long haul towing until then would be a waste of $ for us.
