What are these eggs?

I turned over a board and found this underneath. The lizard is some sort of salamander, I think. They're pretty common, but what are the eggs. They can't be from a bird or a turtle, because there's no way for them to get under this board. The eggs are bigger than the salamander, so I don't think they're salamander eggs... if salamanders even lay eggs. Maybe these are snake eggs and the salamander is waiting to eat the snakes when they hatch?

Okay, apparently this is a five lined common southeastern skink. Their eggs absorb moisture from the soil and continue to grow in size after they are laid. Amazing that a creature this small could have eggs that are larger in diameter than her body.

Thanks, it never occurred to me that eggs could grow in size. I wonder how big they are when first laid.

you are fixing to get over run with skinks.

I got them here, never found any eggs though.  Cool find.

Sure this is not some kind of giant-egg laying 4 legged snake?  Probably deadly poisonous too...
