Something I've been pondering today

Guys, I know this from another forum, but this thread upsets me greatly. I don't care what you think about Barack Obama, but WHAT THE HELL DOES THE NAZI FLAG HAVE TO DO WITH HIM? Does anybody know what Nazism stood for?

Please read the story, and some of the comments from this forum.

I want to know what you think.

second poster had it write 1st amendment.

We can disagree and that is still our right.

BTW, an upside down American flag would have been a better choice in my opinion.

I understand that.

Maybe I'm just being a baby.

No, I think allot of us, naturally don't like that flag.  It gets the shock value instantly and makes our blood boil.

Many of us grew up listening to family members that fought in WW2.  Their values became part of our values.

Yes, I've heard the war stories over the years!

I guess I am just amazed that there are people praising the flag.

People also said it should be a national trend.

It's just disappointing.

Yes. Thank you guys for being a classy forum.

I have enjoyed this forum greatly, and to be honest I have been spoiled by the Mods on here that don't put up with any of that bologna.

There's a theorem out there somewhere that states that any argument, if it goes on long enough will result in someone being compared to Hitler.

While I think it's in poor taste and could be done with something else it is his 1st ammendment right to fly it.  Some neighborhoods wont even let you fly the U.S. flag.  I find THAT more offensive then him flying the Nazi flag.  I dont really follow what he is trying to say by flying it.  Maybe comparing Obama's America to Hitler's Germany?

That'd be cool if there was any comparison.

Far left vs far right. No comparison.

Wow, reading through that and other threads was quite the trip down the rabbit hole. WTF? And we wonder why the liberals always make crap about race.... meanwhile we still have (supposedly) law abiding citizens hoping for the destruction/murder of other Americans based on their skin color or religion. I can understand how they draw these conclusions about us when you read up on the vocal minority within the gun owning community.

Your POV is flawed. Hitler's Reich was not far right, it was a far left government. In fact it was much farther left than our government currently is situated.

A linear model of politics is insufficient for most discussions. It's not 1 dimensional left to right. You have to look at scales of various dimensions to put all our different political perspectives in a meaningful structure. For most discussions, a 2 dimensional perspective works pretty well. I tend to think of "individual freedom" as one axis and "size/reach of government" as the other. Other scales might incorporate economic systems or other social aspects.

I agree with Chuck that extreme facism has more in common with extreme socialism/communism (both low freedom - high government) than it does with the opposite quadrant (high freedom - low government) which approaches anarchy in its extreme reaches. The difference between extreme facism and communism is in the "why" but the "what" is pretty much the same for anyone living under either boot heel.

Yup, it's been purposely distorted as being "far right" by leftists, but if anyone examines actual Nazi platform & policies, it was unmistakably socialist.

And I say this with complete sincerity, there are actually many similarities in ideology between our modern progressives w/in the Democrat party & the National Socialist German Workers (Nazi) Party of the 1920's.

If you don't believe me & I am sure many of you do not thanks to the indoctrination/education you recieved, prehaps you should take a bit of time & do a little bit of research into actual, historically documented National Socialist policy.
