Snap Caps

I'm looking for some .357 mag/.38 spcl snap caps and some 9mm snap caps. My wife is finally going to go shooting with me and I'm wanting to have her practice loading and unloading and dry firing at home first.

I went to Bass Pro this morning and saw two types, all aluminum snap caps and plastic snap caps. Both were the same brand but I can't remember the name. (Edit: They were Traditions brand). Really expensive I thought, 25 to 26 bucks for six. So it would have cost me 51 bucks to buy both calibers. I passed for now. What I couldn't figure out was both types said on the packaging, "Contains lead which may cause ...". Why would the snap caps need to contain any lead at all? Yes, I understand there is lead exposure associated with shooting.

Anyway, I'd really like to find some snap caps that are normal brass but with plastic orange bullets. I saw them somewhere but can't for the life of me remember where. I've checked multiple websites but can't locate them.

Any ideas?

I also would recommend the A-Zoom snap caps. They can also function as dummy rounds. Some plastic snap caps do not have the same weight and balance as real ammo, and won't function properly in auto-loaders.

Top Gun Supply has A-Zoom snap caps at good prices.

Check with Rangemaster--I don't remember how much they were, but I'm pretty sure it was less than $25/6. Also, Guns & Ammo used to sell them individually. Keep in mind that, while you really do want five or six .38/.357s for revolver training, you only need one or maybe two 9mms.

Seem like I saw some like that at Sportsman's Warehouse in Chattanooga; maybe the one in Memphis has them also. I do remember thinking that they were expensive though.

Yeah I just got back from SW in Memphis. Picked up some AZOOM 9mm. They were 13.99 for 5. Much better than what I saw at Bass Pro and without the lead warning. Thanks for the advice guys.

I'll second getting the A-Zoom snap caps. They are, by far, the best I've tried.
