Is there a universal concealed carry emblem or symbol?

If you are permitted to carry a handgun that's between you and the State.

The guy is full of #### and only trying to sell you a sticker.  Everyone knows that a gun show conceal carry badge hanging from a chain around your neck is the only proper badge of honor.

I feel like a n00b for not having one of those yet...

It's like having a NRA sticker. What it really says is, ROBBERS break into this one first.

Im a life member, so was the person who lived here before me. Which is why I took the big red NRA advertisement off the front window. Want to know if I own a firearm, break in, you'll know soon enough.

I had always considered the badges a joke, until I walked into the local Wally World, there is this guy in there, has one of those flip folders on his belt with a badge on it, looked just like a Sheriffs badge. (In form), it was gold and had a big white and blue star in the middle. Carried like a Detective, except unlike a Detective, who usually have their badges on those thing hidden on the side behind a suit jacket or something until someone needs to see it, this one was proudly displayed. Right in the middle of the Star were the words "Concealed Carry". Thought how well he was concealed carrying, by letting everyone in the entire store know he was concealed carrying.

Here's what REAL cops say on one of the cop forums I read. One thing I notice, among the Police is a general consensus that if there is a situation and you pull out a CCW Badge, your going down and then to jail for impersonating a Police Officer.

"Why would someone want a CCW badge other than to feel cool and play cop. They are just a way to get yourself into trouble. If someone flashes one no i'm not goona be all cool and say ok buddy cover me while i cuff him if somebody shows me a ccw badge or yells CCW or whatever. Stick with the permit and call 911 instead of getting involved if at all possible. (That's even what leo's try to do when they are off duty)"

"A badge does NOT let me know who the "good guy" is. People can and do get all kinds of fake badges, stolen real badges, etc. If I'm in a plainclothes, incl off duty, shooting I fully expect to be dropping my gun (and I do mean DROP, trying to gently set it down will get you shot) and getting proned out/cuffed when the cavalry arrives. They will sort everything out shortly, but no one is going to automatically treat me as a good guy because they see some tin.

So what do I think of people carrying "CCW badges?" Horribly stupid idea. It does NOTHING positive for the person with one, and exposes them to criminal liabilty on charges of impersonating a LEO."

"If someone were to flash that badge to impress or impersonate, it would lights out, locked up and badge gone. biggrin.gif The only people that are going to get those things are people who want to "play cop".eek.gif They are going to carry their badge on a belt clip so people can see it, they're going to be all "johnny bravo"cool.gif and either get themselves or someone else hurt because the first time the stuff hits the fan and they're the only one with a "badge and gun"eek.gif , watch out!"

"Sure, they can carry a badge. As long as they drive a car with a light bar and police graphics on the side too."

"A perfect demonstration of the WANNE BE syndrome!"

"CCW badge is a very stupid idea. You are carrying in case of emergency = life or death situation and a badge will do nothing to help that. There are far too many people rolling around with "fake" badges and that does nothing but make it more difficult for a "real" officer using his badge off duty in an emergency."

"I change my own oil, but I don't wear a "Mr Goodwrench" patch on my shirt..."

"I reserve the right to point and laugh if you show me one of these things in a non-emergency situation.biggrin.gif I reserve the right to treat you like the tool you probably are if you show me one in an emergency situation."

Thank you for this.

Meh, I think the badge is a bad idea but if there's one thing I know, there's a lot of cops get butthurt at anything that might appear to diminish the godlike powers that they feel their tin-badge and gun grant them. So I'd take any of that with a pinch of salt.

Yea, there is about 1000 cops on the cop forums all saying the same thing, from all over. Flash a badge in an emergency, your going to jail. Dont think Ill take the chance they are just talkin smack. I have a feeling they would do just what they are saying....and a judge would back them up.

I saw this decal of am "emblem" on a guy's website that he says stands for "concealed carry," like a solid black decal with a blue line across the middle stands for police ("thin blue line"). This decal was solid blue with a gold stripe across the middle. I can't find this anywhere on the web except this guy's website (www.legallyarmed.com). Anybody know if this is true or is this guy making it all up?

A better question would be why would someone want to carry a sign that says "I have a gun"? No one knows I am carrying

unless I want them to. Giving a criminal information they will eventually use against you is not a good idea.

Quote from that site:

A pair of golden-finished "shields" that show you're approved to be packin'!

Ummm...well...I have this neat, little laminated card that the state sent me to show that I am approved to carry a firearm in public - and even this site states that I still need to carry the card even with the badge so what purpose does it serve?  Then, they answer that question:

If you've got "the heat," here's the cool look to back it up!

So, it is really about looking 'cool'.  Uh, yeah, I think I can think of other 'fashion accessories' which would do a better job of helping me 'look cool' (well, as much as it is possible for me to look 'cool', anyhow) without using something so serious as the fact that I am legal to carry a potentially lethal weapon in public as a fashion statement.
