I traded my xd .40 subcompact for a police issued Glock 22 3rd gen, I wanted something different and never owned a glock before so I traded for it. There's some wear on the outside but as far as the barrel and everything else it looks to be in perfect shape. The guy I got it from said he didn't shoot it that much.

I have a question though, Didn't the gen 3's come with 15 round magazines? He only gave me 2 10 round magazines, so I wonder if it was a department decision to only allow them to carry 10 rounds. Here is a pic of it.

G22's come with 15-rounds mags in all free states.  I seriously doubt any le agency uses only 10 round mags.

I wonder if it came from a mag limit state.

Either way, that's an excellent handgun.

I dont know all I know is the guy I got it from said it was a police issue gun and that he didn't use it much and just kept on his night stand. I'm also pretty sure its a police issue firearm because the frame and slide have two different serials so that could possibly mean that it was serviced by the police department armorer.

That looks like one of those Gen 2.5's or whatever they call them. No finger grooves (unless I just can't see them ) but has the rail. Awesome! I also doubt any agency used the 10 rounders. He probably just kept the 15's.

Yeah it has the fringer groves just the way the pic was taken.

It could have mismatched serial numbers and 10rd magazines for any number of reasons. I worked with an officer still using 10rd magazines in his G22 so they are out there. Glock most likely replaced the slide and barrel under warranty.

Nice piece. No clue on the mags...mine came with 3 15-rounders, but like an earlier post said...the guy prob kept them. Police guns are good (typically) because most officers shoot em twice a year to qualify, and they are professionally serviced. Enjoy it!

I was at GT Distributors outside Chattanooga a couple of weeks ago, they had plenty and I mean plenty 15 rounders both new and use for the G22.  New was $21 and the used may have been <$15, not sure though.  You might be able to buy through their website.

Even if it came from a gun control state if its original owner was LE and it was purchased through a LE organization 9 gets you 10 it came with standard capacity mags. I'm guessing it either dates back to the Clinton era and was not a LE trade in or its more recent and isn't an LEO trade in, OR it is a LEO trade in and someone somewhere along the way kept the standard mags and left the neutered ones.
