I would want a 4x4, but if you truly just stay on a trail that already exists, you may not need it.  It depends on how steep some of the hills may be on the trails you ride.  I think you will always come across something where 4x4 will be needed.

Your age, purpose and finally looking forward to future uses!

I graduated from a Honda 400EX about 10 years ago to a Honda Foreman 4x4, I was in mid 30s, and probably too old for the fun and speed of a 400EX, and then when I finally embraced the 4x4, I determined that I was an idiot for many years trying to hold on to the my 20s while riding the 4x2.  I love my 4x4, and it would go places that I never dreamed possible.  Then the utility purpose and the endless possibilities that you can do with one is incredible.  My recommendation go with the 4x4.  BTW it would be a great bug out vehicle too.

I really am wanting one just for trails like at sugar creek which is like 30 mins from my house and bikini bottom up at dyerburg and a place in Missouri. I really would rather have a 4x4 since I have a recon so I didn't need a 4x2thanks

I prefer 4x4, but I don't drive all that fast when I am out and about.

Use the honda 400 4x4 for both riding and deer hunting.

generally I stick to back mountain roads I know, but sometimes I get off the beaten path some.

it is a no brainer to get a 4X4.

I have two quads.  One a 2 wheel drive and the other a 4x4.  One is a 2X4 375 Polaris and the other is a 4x4 500 Polaris Scrambler.  While the Scrambler is a sport quad I have used it to haul/drag downed trees, tow a trailer full of firewood, drag a pickup truck from mud to more solid ground, haul ass across a field. The Scrambler does it all.

I am not sure of the original question anymore, LOL

I prefer a 4x4 quad. We have a Honda Rancher that gets used for all kinds of chores. If I wanna go fast in the woods I'll take either a 2 stroke dirt bike or a rail buggy.

I would go with a 4x4 option. ( maybe a on the fly option).  I have never had a non-4x4 atv. since the trail conditions change all the time, you never know when you're going to need it. Sport quads are ok, just last time i rode with a bumnch of guys on sport quads while they were following my Outlander 650 max, Riding Bryant's cove near Tracy city, they got into a little more than they could handle on the trails. One guy even vowed to get a 4x4 as soon as he could.

Having 4x4 i like having a gun, you may never need it, but i would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have.
