Help pick an AR

Confirm with seller that it truly is the older spec rifle, I got one of the mp15T that was supposed to come with the troy rail and 1/8 barrel. It arrived as a 1/9 barrel with a crappy s&w branded rail that was made by utg. Beware some sellers are using the old literature...

 That really sucks when you purchase something and its not what you really wanted.

 

 

But today, I was able touch, hold, cuddle and verify the twist on the barrel.  Its on layaway and I'm ready for it now but still gotta find some ammo.  Did some searching found a couple boxes online but 20 rds here and 50 rds plus shipping on each order ($$$$).  Hopefully my patience will get me 500 rds at a decent price and @ 1 shipping price.

I think Academy might still have Monarch at the service counter, one box per day. Or per visit, if the clerk doesn't remember you or different clerk.

Lacquered Russian steel. I figger it may well be Brown Bear, the only other lacquered stuff I know of still,  but dunno.  Runs fine in all my ARs and minis, shot a lot of of back when it was plentiful, might have 100 rounds on hand right now.

 

It comes in a brass version too, for more $.

I've picked up a few boxes of Tula from Wally World, but have not shot any yet. Will pickup some Monarch my next visit to Academy.

75% or more of any .223 I've ever shot has been Russian steel. Wouldn't have shot nearly as much as I have if I couldn't get it.

I forgot about Academy Sports or maybe to excited to remember. I'll try there tomorrow and bring a friend. 2 boxes better than 1.

Not gonna shoot match with it(as I'll use Match rounds, lol) but for target and plinking, oh you better believe it!
