ZT0550 Gen 2

Can't believe I titled the thread wrong. It's an 0550

Well... I just had to. Nothing really new to report. Same flawless ZT quality. I really like this knife. It's a little smaller, and a little beefier than the 0561.

I think the scale is butt ugly, like everybody else. Hinderer makes replacement scales, but there are none to be found right now. They changed the clip on the Gen 2, which also changed the hole pattern in the scale. Who knows if/when they will make any more. I did order a Kryptoglow scale, but don't like it near as well as the Hinderer design. It's a lot more pimpy. I'll probably use it when it shows up.

I checked everywhere. Monkey Edge had one color. Let me know what you can dig up. I ordered this one. It's not bad, and was only 40 bucks...

I saw your review from way back. Good luck finding any new Hinderer scales now. If the Kryptoglow scale looks ok when I get it, I will probably use it. I'll replace it with a Hinderer in a heartbeat if I ever find one in the right color.

I LOVE this knife. Once I managed to wear a little hair off the detent, it deploys as fast or faster than my 561 with just a flick of the thumb stud. The lock bar has less tension than the Gen 1.

The Gen 1 551 is the same knife. It's just a 550 with an Elmax blade (instead of S35VN). The clip holes are different, but that's it. Any of the scales out there right now have clip holes cut for the Gen 1. So, it will fit the Gen 2. You just can't mount the clip on the scale side. I carry it right side tip up... stock.

I have a couple of scales in the mail right now. The first is the one pictured above, and the second is this one...

I like the polished CF scale. Not sure I would like it as well as a Hinderer pattern in the right color. I'm going to wind up carrying this one a lot. Thanks for checking. PM headed your way.

Thanks. I'm a mere pup compared to you guys.

You are getting there Buddy, it becomes a firkin sickness trust me. The best thing I can say about the addiction is that the knives need no ammo
