Looks like a pretty good concealed gun for ~$400.00 Gotta look at my Janes Book tonite to compare the weight with the 229 but Overall length is only 5.5inches which is awesome compared to almost everything out there.

I had one and wish I had not sold it.

I've owned a couple 40S&W in Starvel (Star's nickel finish.) Both shot extremely well for me, I'm not an accomplished shooter. Conclusion I drew is that they are natural pointers. Still have one in 9mm, use it for carry occasionally.

$400 seems a bit rich though, see them online for ~$350 or so. Guess that may come out the same if you had to pay shipping and transfer, but give it a look-see. Saw one at a Smyrna show not too long ago for $200 on a dealer's table. If it'd have been a 9mm, I'd own it now. I'm guessing it sold quickly.

I've got one. Great little guns. Bought it new many years ago and now going to sell it. Less than 200rds put through it. 3 mags (one flat bottom-two extended grip), case, manual, and 130rd HP (multiple brands). I'll be at the gun show at the TN. State fairgrounds Nashville 3/19. COME ON DOWN

The Firestar is an excellent CCW pistol. Very small, durable, and reliable. Only real weakness is the firing pins will break if you dry-fire a lot. Use snap-caps and you'll be fine. Use only factory mags for serious use. The ProMags are good for practice as you get to practice your FTF drills at irregular intervals.

These are single-action pistols designed to be carried cocked and locked. The safety has a very positive feel and is not easily dislodged by accident. If yours is a bit stiff going on 'safe'. pull the hammer back slightly. They have a magazine safety under the right grip, but it is easily deactivated.

The only drawback I see is the trouble to find parts if something goes bad. I have the 45 version and love it. It has always fired and is accurate enough. Carries good but it is heavy.

I had the 9mm version in the 90s and I kick myself for selling it. I remember I did break a firing pin, but other than that, it was a fantastic weapon. Seems like I recall it winning Handgun of the Year in Guns and Ammo in the early 90s IIRC.

I own the Starvel m40 for about a year now and it is a very good ccw. Its heavy but that helps with recoil and the trigger is very smooth. Great little gun. Got mine at guns and leather in greenbrier for about $250. with original box and two factory mags. I wouldn't sell mine for twice the price, thats how much I love it.

Lol holy thread resurrection! I ended up buying a Star Firestar 45 in the beautiful starvel finish as shown above....I have actually kept it for over a year *cough* JEFF *cough* lol. However, I shoot my Sig P245 a lot more so it spends most of the time in the safe.....

Mine is just like this. Not in as good of shape it looks though :/. I was wanting to sell mine (wanted a deep carry 380 but dont have the extra cash) but I have recently decided to keep it. I need the extended 7+1 pinky extension magazine but cannot find one to save my life! I have 3 original flat bottom mags (6+1).

Wait a minute. Isn't that the one you tried to sell earlier this year? The one I was lusting after for a while? BTW, Smith and I were talking about you, the BHP40, and a bucketload of other things the other day. Good to see you post again.:)
