J Frame repair

Recommended Posts

About a year ago, I dropped my 442 on some aggregate pavement and it badly dinged one of the corners. It doesn't affect function, I just hate the way it looks.

I was in the M'Boro area Friday, so I took it over to On Target and they said the only way to fix it was to cerakote it. If I have to do that, I'll just leave it like it is.

Anyone know if there's something else I can do?

On graycrait's recommendation, I lightly sanded the damaged area and got it to where I think it's pretty smooth:

I don't feel any bumps or burrs when I run my finger over it and can't see any rough places. I'm going by Academy or Walmart this afternoon to see if I can find some Aluminum Black.

Went to both Walmart and Academy and neither one had what I needed, but I kind of figured that would be the case. But I don't think I'll be going back to Academy anytime soon, because the guy at the gun counter was a complete asshat.

I haven't been in Academy or Gander Mountain for several years for the same reason.
