AK 74 Issue

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know a good AK armorer around Nashville, TN area?   I just got a Waffen Werks AK74 few weeks ago and i am having some failures to feed with it.

i have read that some people are talking about magazines sitting to low, the rail being to high but i am not very familiar with AK's and dont have the tools to fix things my self, the problem that i think i see is that when charging the weapon the bolt is not grabbing the bullet deep enough - it just grabbs it 2-3mm on the edge i dont know if thats normal but it seems by doing that it pushes the bullet out crooket and it will jam sometimes, on the other hand i may run 5-10 bullets fine and then it happens again.  All i have is 4 Tapco mags that came with it and i will buy some Bulgarian or russian mags to see if the mag is the problem.

any help and advice is apreciated.

thanks

I have had great success with Tapco Mags in my Arsenals in both 5.45 and 7.62 so I doubt as though the mags are the issue especially if it does it with all 4. Troy at In Range is your best bet for work that needs to be done on more of a local level from what I gather so you should get with him http://www.inrangec2.com/ (I have not used him personally but Ive read great things about his work) .Sorry I cant help you more, hope you can get it figured out and up and running soon.

Get some original military mags before you bother trying to mod the gun.

There is a reason the military mags cost more.

I have some spare East German ones

I think i should try out different mags before i start working on the gun,  can you sell me 2 of them - i work in Mt Juliet if that is close to you?

thanks

Just in case it is not a mag issue, doesn't Waffen Werks stand behind their merchandise? Contact them about the issue if the different mags don't fix it, and have them fix whatever is wrong with the weapon. Make sure to have them send you shipping label so you won't have to pay out of pocket.

I live near WW and have been in their shop. They will fix it. But like has been suggested, try original Bulgarian mags first. I had a Tapco that came with my first '74, it was hit or miss on wether it wanted to function on a certain day or not.
Invested in Bulgarian mags and never had a problem again.
