Father's Day Fun - TVP

Went up to stay at brother in-laws house on Buckeye Lake in OH over Father's Day. Turns out it was approx 1 hr from Thunder Valley Precision. So of course, we had to see it. Thunder Valley does long range training and has a range out to 1 mile w/ targets at various distances. We spent that morning on the 1,000 yard gong.

 

Two things I told myself going here to shoot at that distance. I would not spend it sitting in the rain or high winds, just did that last month and did not need to do it again so soon. Unfortunately, we did both. Weather was horrible. Cold, really windy and rain on and off. Probably the worst conditions we have ever shot in at that distance. However, we still had fun.

 

Never shot a suppressed rifle at 1,000 yards before. That was really cool. Range guy let us shoot his GAP .260 w/ a Shark suppressor. No kick! That thing was like shooting a .22 compared to shooting my .308 BA. This range sits out in coal mine territory in OH. It's very hilly and actually, looks a lot like TN. The view in the video is basically looking off the back of this guys house. Imagine having a 1 mile range off your back deck.

 

Here is my son hitting the 12 x 12" gong at 1,000. Good way to spend Father's Day!
