Wow. That sucks hard. I thought he was a fantastic actor, it really seemed as though the roles he played were written just for him.

Besides of course as Tony Soprano, I think of him mostly as a pretty scary heavy in films like True Romance, Fallen, 8mm, etc.

He had a lot of great roles left in him, alas.

Really like Gandolfini (Sp), but the way he is now being portrayed as an actor is a little over the top. Gandolfini was made for the part of Tony Soprano. But thats also who he played in every other movie he ever made. His acting was very good, but with the NJ accent, the look, he pretty much played himself in every part. Same with Costner. Since last night I have heard Gandolfini being compared to Cagney, John Wayne, Steve McQueen, and a ton of other actors. I have heard people who worked with him say he was the greatest actor of his time, of any time and of all time.

Like guitarists, I dont think we have had the chance to see (hear) the greatest actor of all time. Its been around a while.

But Gandolfini WAS Tony Soprano, I dont think any other actor could have pulled off that part so well.
