I guarantee, if you use a 1911 for a bottle opener, you wont be ABLE to shoot it after awhile.

sounds like using a sledge hammer to decorate a birthday cake...use the right tool for the right job :D

How many bottle openers on a GI 1911? No shooting allowed.

OK, I'll take a stab at it:

1. Magazine

2. Slide

3. ........ Can't think of it but I'm pretty sure there are at least 3?

why do you assume the drinking involved alcohol? Just because you are a drunk does not mean the rest of us are. Well we are but it doesn't mean we are ;)

Actually you youngins do not rememeber the days of glass soda bottles that required a bottle opener, but old farts like Mars do.

Some of you old folks can remember when you had to have a church key or bottle opener to drink beer or soda.

Anybody under 30 know what a church key is?

As my Brotheren J. Moses was a tea-totalling Mormon, I suppose the bottle openers were not of his intended design. But USGI's can make due with what they have. However it was intended to be fully dismantled with the parts at hand. There is a Screwdriver and a Wrench contained within the parts to aid in disassembling. These were of his designs.

I remember those. And some imported bottled beers don't have twist off caps. (Any sharp edge will do - hold cap on edge, strike firmly in a downward motion with the free hand against the cap. If the glass breaks when the cap comes off, consume with care.)
