Another thread on here led me to visit the Hi-Point website, and it just reinforced something I have thought for a long time.

With all due courtesy to those who own and love Hi-Points...........

Hi-Point pistols look like cordless drills.

I'm sorry. But it had to be said.

I heard through the grapevine that Mike.357 is an aficionado of the High Points... Maybe he will give us a range report comparison on them .vs the Dewalt 18v!:D

I'm sure "unreconstructed" will chime in momentarily on how awesome his electric drill is....:D

A picture of the .380 would be even better.

They do have one of the best warrantys/customer service around though.

Hi-Point has a 380 COMP. What is the COMP for? Certainly not COMPact.

"Compensated".

I guess that's similar to "ported".

The "compensator" looks like an add on deal on end of barrel.

Has same option in 9mm model, too.

(the .pdf manual sort of explains it).

And you really need a compensator for a 2 pound .380.

JJCt hough...$185 for a drill...I paid $30 for mine, and it's cordless. plus mine will at least scare my dog.

My gold plated Lorcin used to belong to a guitar player.

A relative newcomer to Nashville, I have learned that any abberation can be explained away by saying "but he was a guitar player".

I guess that covers this situation.

no harm no foul :koolaid: Hi Points might work for some people but my limited experience says I would never trust my well being to one.

Oh, me either. I was just curious enough to go to their site and see what the "comp" thing was all about.

I thought it might be for some proprietary ammo load or something, like those .25NAA and .32NAA models from North American Arms (which seems to me like another of those solutions to problems that don't exit).
