It's the newest Wally in the whole region, and to my knowledge they never sold them at all?

It and the Walker Springs store to my knowledge are the only two stores in the three or four county area around Knox that don't sell them (although seems the Walker Springs one used to, can't remember).

But it's pretty clear Wally makes it's decisions by precise spreadsheet geekage from Bentonville regarding every aspect of every store's operation.

Walker Springs did a long time ago.  That glass case behind the counter now full of chinese knives and other geegaws is where they used to be.

Regardless, those two WM's sure do move some ammo.  They both currently have a one box limit, it's that bad.

I thought Wal Mart in Turkey creek sold guns.  They sold ammo last time I was there.  Of course out of what I wanted.

Pellet rifles and black powder rifles during the season.

This is from a gun counter guy from another walmart, so you take it however you like.

The stopped selling firearms at the Walker Springs walmart because it wasn't worth the money to keep renewing their ffl every year.  Since West Knoxville is the supposed snoody part of Knoxville, people would rather go to somewhere like Gander Mountain to buy their firearms at a premium.  Because, everyone knows walmart sells chinise knockoffs, right?

There is no "annual renewal", I believe type 01 FFL is the ginormous sum of $200 for 3 years and cheaper renewal after that, so I highly doubt this "explanation".

I'd posit it's more a simple overall assessment of total net profit vs salaried hours based on projected gross sales.

Selling guns is rather labor intensive compared to customer throwing something in the cart -- from stocking them, keeping bound book on both inventory and sales,  showing them, checking 4473, doing TICS/NICS, having manager double check everything, and even walk the customer out with it.

The Turkey Creek Walmart never sold guns that I have known. My wife worked there for years.

Dicks stopped about a year before Academy opened, claimed they weren't making money on them.

Figures that the only Walmarts I ever go to are the ones without the guns :/   maybe now that I have moved my local walmart will have them.

I wonder if the Walmart selling strategist in Bentonville considers the likelihood of the hunter profile in the affluent communities shopping at Walmart?  Example, would a typical hunter from say Farragut be considered a Walmart shopper for hunting rifles compared to the hunter from Madisonville?    I know the Walmart in Madisonville is loaded with guns, but a Walmart 40 miles away not have any guns?  Shopper profile?

Shopper profile = Invasion of privacy   (how dare Walmart's strategist do this, you reckon they should want to maximize profits?)
