Archery, Crossbow, and Air Rifles at TN Schools/Colleges

Since it is illegal for students to keep firearms in a dorm or on campus frat house in Tennessee, is there any law (not going into school policy) against a student having archery/crossbow equipment or an air rifle?  The archery/crossbow and air rifle would be for target shooting and hunting.

Definitely a no-go at UTK so I assume it applies to all UT campuses. I do believe they allow, or did at one time, students to keep such "weapons" at the PD and check them out as needed.

You can search this doucument for weapon....http://dos.utk.edu/files/Hilltopics%202012.pdf

Can't speak to what other universities and colleges in the state do, I would assume they all have similar regulations.

I understand that the schools here provide storage, but is there any state law that prohibits something like a bow and arrow from being stored in a dorm room?  From what I can tell, a bow and arrow is really not a weapon in Tennessee.

It's almost certain that there is a school policy against it.  Although you may not be arrested you could very well be expelled.  College tuition isn't cheap, and they don't give refunds when you are expelled.  Don't take the chance.

I understand there are policies against it, but I am not seeing where someone can get prosecuted by the state for having archery equipment or air guns on school property.  Someone can have a policy against chewing gum, but I can't get legally in trouble for it.

No "law" against it, but I assure you that should the school give you the boot for breaking the "rules" that they will likely be more than happy to charge you with trespassing should you step back on school grounds, which you can get in trouble for legally.
