Didn't know they made 9mm air rifles.

Yes nowhere. You just named three Spring Piston air guns, completely different power plant. Lets try some PCPs from Pyramid air.

Career 707 .22 carbine 126.2 decibels
Career 707 rifle .22 126.3 decibels
Hammond Wasp 9mm 126.8 decibels
Sharp ace hunter .177 123.03 decibels
How about a Daisey single pump 853 .177 116.50 decibels
I've read a Sheridan pump will make 120 but I've not seen it.
This is why so many are coming out with barrel shrouds now days.
As far as my Falcon there is nothing wrong with it. I don't have a number on the Falcon but if you know someone with a meter I'll find out.
I'll give you it may not make 140 decibels but it will get in the 120s.

Oh and it appears you got your numbers off of Straight Shooters web site. None of the guns they list are PCP, all Springers.

Hey Joe, you wouldn't happen to know what velocity were those decibel levels were recorded at would you?

I'd be super-shocked, completely-surprised & utterly-astonished if those decibel levels were taken at subsonic speeds.

But iffin in fact those are subsonic decibel level's, well than I'd be happy to buy ya a beer or two for setting me straight.

No I don't know, wish I did. I do know that air gun makers claim some of their guns will do 1100 and 1200 fps but few get there. Those that do usually sacrifice accuracy or if a Spring gun they are very hard to shoot well. Most PCP shooters will keep their velocity below 1000 fps looking for a balance of shot count, accuracy and energy.

This is a pretty good article about air guns and typical over the counter sound meters http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2009/03/airgun-sound-level-measurement.html  Bottom line high power air guns are not quiet unless you make them so, pop one off in the back yard and the neighbors will know you did something. Folk a couple of blocks over are going to know you did something.

Oh and the super fast claims are usually done with the lightest pellets they can get and you will do good to hit the barn with that combo.
