Hi Folks,

When I was a kid, I had an air rifle and my grandpa's bolt action 22.  I don't even remember what it was other than it was very old and had a threaded barrel. From about age 10 to 18 I lived with those two guns. I could shoot bees off clover blossoms with that old Crossman. I went off for school, became an adult and didn't much think about guns. Since getting married and having a couple of kids I had started thinking about getting a pistol for home defense and thanks to a nice tax refund, I pulled the trigger and got a Glock 19 Gen 4 about 2 months ago. I had never fired a handgun before and so I took it to the store's range and the store manager gave me a quick lesson on stance, grip etc. BOOM. I had found a new hobby. I can't believe  how much I have enjoyed shooting and I don't know why I'm surprised since it was such a part of my life growing up. I've never been anti-gun, so I don't know why it never occurred to me that I would enjoy it. So I went a little crazy and started collecting (Ruger SR22, Ruger 10/22, MP15/22 and an XDS .45 so far), took a handgun training course and then the carry permit class and am having the time of my life.   Started teaching my oldest son how to shoot the 22s. Like any hobby though, I'm always thinking about what to get next.  Probably a .40.  Maybe an MP shield, though I haven't found one to look at yet. Suffering through the ammo shortage like everyone else or I would be at the range every day. Looking forward to reading the forums here.

Welcome! I too grew up with guns but never really got into them until I moved out here about 6 years ago. Bought my first pistol, a springfield XDm 9mm and haven't stopped since! I think you'll find a great group of people on TGO and hopefully find some useful information.

PS - It's only a matter of time now until you get the suppresor bug for those .22's of yours. If you'd have asked me two years ago if I'd ever own a suppressor I'd have told you it was too much trouble, but now I can't think of any better purchase I've made for my .22's!
