Wife misses my truck

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)
My wife never wanted to drive my truck, I always asked her if she would like to. She just told me that she would rather have a new Super Crew Raptor than her SUV she has now. I missed my truck the moment that I dropped it off to be traded in.

I can't tell you all how happy this made me as it looks like I will be ordering a 2014 Supercrew Raptor and get to keep my Shelby, this was totally her idea and it floored me as I have put the raptors out of my mind

So if all things go well and as they should we will have two SVT vehicles in my household! Edited by willis68

Dude... think about all of the money in mods you lost on the last Raptor.  I'm done with trading vehicles on a whim.

Not to mention equity. The dealership will make money on the Raptor twice.

Actually it really was not that much money after all was said and done, no mods on the Navigator and it will be her truck so I will do no mods on it, I will just have the pleasure of driving it and the Shelby to me is worth way more than I lost on the trade so it has worked out

Why did you trade in the Raptor to begin with?

I have wanted a Shelby GT 500 since they came out in 2005, I originally was going to get one before I learned about the Raptor, the 2014 GT500 is the last of the current body style and the car is fantastic,

I could not keep both so the choice was easy Edited by willis68

Very happy for you on this. But my agent would give me the Customer of the Year Award if I did something like this.

I wonder what you do to afford such gass guzzling vehicles?

Honestly that's kind of a rude question, you know?  I never ask people about their finances.

Steve works pretty darn hard, I can tell you that much.

Well at least with the new Raptor you'll get stock HID headlights.  :)

Go for the new Terrain color... that's bad ass!  :D

Never meant to be rude, just asking what someone does?

I worked for 7 years in a pretty good job(so i thought) and most of my money went to my house. It won't go 0-60 in 5 seconds though.

Raptor's don't get totally bad gas mileage.   I like them things but if I had the money I would get an FX4 instead.

Do you guys that have them go serious off roading?

( David) if asking someone what they do is rude, i guess there are a lot of rude people on this forum.

I know not to ask what anyone makes( none of my business or anyone else's).

Seriously though, I have been looking into a new truck soon and I do agree with Mike .357. I love the raptor but it's gas mileage sucks. But no offense to anyone who has one. My durango isn't a fuel sipper either.

Willis, If i offended you in any way, I apologize. No offense meant.

Both your rides are sweet. I would love to have either, or be given the chance to at least ride in either one day.

to be clear I said they DID NOT get totally bad mileage.  According to Ford they get 11/16.  I imagine you can easily get 15 mpg by keeping the foot out of it for the most part.

Ok, i keep putting my foot in my mouth.

11-16 isn't bad i agree. Considering the ammount of weight 6.2 liters is pushing. I like the look of the raptor myself, but leaning toward the fx4 in ecoboost. Eventually.. As far as timetable, I got to get my house sold, moved and a new job ( and save up for a little while). Right now for a 1998( 220,000 mi) i'm lucky to get 18 city/20 hwy from a 5.2liter v-8.  I put 198,000 miles on it and still running strong( hope it can hold up til i get enough saved for a new truck).

If new car prices keep climbing, It may take longer.

its all good Wyldk.

Truck prices ain't gonna be dropping, so rising is the best bet for what's gonna happen to them.

You guys don't think 11mpg is bad?  :squint:

Man, I'd hate to see what you DO think is bad. My experience with the MPG estimates is that very few people actually get what is on the sticker. If it says 11-16 my guess is that most people get closer to 11 in the city.

Doesn't matter if it is good or bad.  You don't buy a Raptor for mpg's.  I have found that I get better mpg than the sticker claimed.

Anyway I guess I recall driving a Monte Carlo and getting about 8 mpg, so even 11 sounds good.

Of course Willis could go a buy a Rav4 or something if mpg's are an issue.   ;)

My first ride was a 63 C10. 11mpg is GOOD!

This. Not everything revolves around fuel mileage. Sometimes things are fun, and that costs money, and it's worth it. No different than going to the movies or buying a new video game.

Congrats on the truck!

Exactly. I bought a Jeep JK when I was commuting 100 miles/day round trip. Practical or cheap to feed? Not really. Tons of fun? Absolutely!

Congrats on the awesome vehicles!

I work with people from all over the world, and most of my colleagues spend what would be in US dollars 8 to 12 dollars a Gallon for fuel at their homes. and in all honesty I live in their world half of the time. I can't tell you all how much they wish they paid what we do for fuel everyone I work with would kill to trade their I.6 liter engine in on a 5.8 or a 6.2 so I guess I see things differently than most of you

Having said this, if I do buy another Raptor I will also be getting a Focus ST that my wife and I will share as a daily driver, as both The Shelby and the Raptor are not perfect in that role Edited by willis68
