The haters will always pick the worst photos.

We would probably have to start a thread in The Ready Room to show the really good photos of Beard. Even there, we couldn't show them all. Luckily, Google is your friend. :)

Remember Kipling?

A million surplus Maggies are willing to bear the yoke;

And a woman is only a woman, but a good Cigar is a Smoke.

A million Amanda's would be happy to succumb to your charms - yes, even yours. :)

There are a ton (more than so-to speak) of better-than-Amandas out there. :)

You guys just need some more living to do - puppies.

I watched a rather good show on PBS last night that followed a couple of American coaches training the new Chinese baseball team for the 08 games.

I think it said it will be on again tonight around 2:00?

Description:

A former major league baseball manager, Jim Lefebvre, and Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame pitcher Bruce Hurst take on the toughest task of their careers; transforming China's fledgling national baseball team into a contender in the 2008 Olympic Games. This is a story of two divergent nations united by America's pastime, a seat-of-the-pants chronicle of underdogs, world-class dreams, high-stakes risks and Olympic glory.

The Serbian has filed a protest on the result of the 100 fly.

:edit: They did not accept the protest, his medal is safe.

Yeah, my wife and I laughed out loud and cheered when we heard them say the committee wouldn't even accept the protest based on him clearly being beaten. ;)

Not that it wasn't very close... but the cameras and automated touchpads don't lie.

Phelps won fairly, but in another way Cavic was robbed. By any other measuring point but fingernails, he swam a better race. But you set the rules and win or lose by them.

I don't know about that. Swimming isn't gymnastics, it's not subjective. Whoever gets to the wall first wins, period. That's what I like about it.

BEIJING, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- The International Olympic Committee reported its first positive drug test involving a medal winner Friday at the Beijing Games

Kim Jong-su of North Korea, who won silver in the men's pistol competition and a bronze in the air pistol, tested positive for propanolol, a betablocker that limits trembling.

China's Tan Zongliang was moved up from third to second in the pistol and fourth-place finisher Vladimir Isakov of Russia will receive the bronze in that event.

In the air pistol, the bronze medal that had gone to Kim will now go to American Jason Turner.

The IOC said three athletes had tested positive among the 2,203 tests to date -- almost half of those tests having been conducted before the Games.

GO AMERICA!!! PHELPS DID IT!!!!

:)

Kinda freaky... the Olympic games started at 8pm, on 8/8/08... and Phelps just went 8/8 in gold. :D

Posted

Rumour has it he suddenly grew to 8 feet tall after the last event and started terrorizing downtown Beijing, stay tuned for details.

Congrats to Phelps and the rest of Team USA.

Did anyone watch that Jamacian, Usain "Lightning" Bolt, practically crawl across the the 100 meter finish line? He still managed to set a new world record, without trying. That was amazing.

Yeah, that guy has made every race so far look easy... all while cruising into the line, while looking around at the others.

That was awesome. In the interview after the race he didn't even want to talk about the world record, he was just happy to bring the gold medal home.

Did anyone just see Phelps win the 100 fly by a hundredth of a second?

I believe he won by a thousandth, not a hundredth.
