New toy on the way.....

Oh I'm fired up about this.
I have had to get out of most large centerfire rifles due to a shoulder injury. BUT I hate 22's shotguns and such so here I am. If I can't cast for it, it ain't for me.
30/30 is my favorite cartridge by far and now......I have a super 14 contender on its way today!

It's is going to be great.
SO! Who loads for this? Talk to me! Edited by Caster

Should make a pretty good fireball :)

First thoughts say thats true but remember who you're talking to 😄
I'm thinking a 168g spitzer hollow point (cast by me) over some Accurate 2015 for about 2000fps. Sweet! Edited by Caster

I have saved up about 30 brass cases an intend to start loading 30-30 as soon as I find some reasonably priced dies. Haven't thought about a load yet. They won't be hot though since I will be shooting a Win model 94. Keep us posted with pics.

Caster, that ought to be great. I've never owned a Contender but, have shot one. It was .357 Max. and was pretty neat. I load .30-30 for rifles but, I've not started casting yet. I do have a couple .30 cal. molds though.

This is a decent sight for all things related to hunting pistols.

Here is a very active classifieds section dedicated to the Contender:

I have always wanted a Contender but the cost of custom barrels has always swayed me. My next find will likely be a XP100.

It's here.  I really wanna shoot it but alas, no rear sight or scope.   :-\

As tacky as it'll look, I may snatch the Eotech from my AR so I can atleast go have some range fun tomorrow.

I'm sure you're already aware, but the Lyman manual has a section dedicated to loads for T/C firearms.  If you don't have a copy, I can loan you mine - I bought a couple manuals in anticipation of reloading, but will not be buying any gear until primers are available again.
