I never pay attention to the tabloids at the cash registers until I saw this today. Remember that part in the first Men In Black where K tells J they are the most accurate investigative reporting papers around? Well maybe he was right afterall...

Okay, so here is a question. These papers are at the front of almost every cash register in every grocery store in this country. I get that they print BS because that is what people seem to love and they just want to make money. But why print lies? If they cant put an anti Obama article on the front page and sell it... why not go for the facts?

Because facts aren't sexy and they don't sell to that crowd.  To the target audience a person caught in an affair (or supposed/whatever other BS they print) is far more interesting than bill 12345, subsection 5A, line 3, and how it will affect your life. My .02.

It seems like there was some or another movie/show I saw (can't remember exactly what) where - sort of like the OP referenced from 'Men in Black' - rather than keeping every 'conspiracy', etc. hush hush, printing the 'truth' in tabloids was seen as the best way to ensure that no one would believe it even if someone found out and revealed the 'truth' to the general public.
