Obama can sign the treaty but it's my understanding he doesn't have enough votes in the senate to ratify it.

A treaty does not have to be ratified to abide by some of its terms.

I certainly hope you are wrong. That doesn't match up with the previous discussions I've seen on this topic.

Whether he signs it or not, does anyone know how this will affect shipments from countries that sign it?

Not I and I'll bet no one else does either.  I have a feeling the treaty is so broad and generalized it could mean anything.

I really don't know how it all works but do remember that with a simple "NO" the State Dept. refused all those M1 Carbines being shipped back from Korea.  My understanding is they allowed the Garands but who knows when we'll see those.  In other words, this leads me to believe the guvment could very well halt importation of firearms, regardless of any treaty, as they have in fact done in the past.

So get'em while you can. :panic:   BTW, has anyone noticed that Mosins have doubled in price the last couple of years.  ;)

As a force of law it does, but with who is running things, it doesn't matter. They are probably gone.

i hope not its already hard enough to find 7.62x54r at a decent price

Wait it out my friend. 54r has been available throughout this whole panic, and it will be going forward. I think the price will stabilize around $90 per tin. More than it used to be, but still the best deal on ammo.
