Fixed blade IWB

What do you think about fixed blade IWB? There are some business situations where I would do better not to open carry a knife. I am considering a S&W HRT3 necker but also evaluating the idea of fixed blade IWB. At this link there is a guy who has an interesting way of doing it. But what about just carrying it vertically IWB with it attached to your belt like an IWB gun holster?

Spots was showing me a sheath designed to hold a huge blade the the waistband.it was leather with a brass "knob" on it that keeps it from falling down your pants and your belt provides the tension when you draw the blade.

I have done something similar but with a regular sheath.  I frequently carry large blades, but don't really try to conceal them.

I have carried bowies with 13.5" blades in a blade cover sheath with a frog or stud iwb. It slides down my left thigh cross draw style with the handle under a t shirt. If I have to defend myself with a blade, I want it to be a large bowie

I wish I could remember who made it and what they called it but something cool I saw at Blade was a IWB setup.  Granted it was for a smaller blade but it ties to your belt and then you just tuck it into your waistband.  On the draw, the short tie will stop the sheath and the knife will be drawn.  It was great for smaller blades and allows you to resheath and tuck without fear of stabbing yourself.

I've carried my izula like that with the clip plate in the past but I now have it set up with paracord so that it either goes horizontally. Belt mounted on the weak side for weak side reverse grip draw or right hand saber draw. If I'm wearing a suit then the Izzy is worn as a neck knife and can pretty easily be drawn by reaching between the buttons of my shirt at the right place and giving a good tug. Of course I have pretty small hands so ymmv. When I'm in uniform I slip the izzula tip down in the strong side hip pocket with the paracord looped over the belt as a retainer. The black cord blends in with the dark ems pants and nobody notices the cord with the shears and other crap already strapped on. Just some ideas, hope it helps. Edited June 6, 2013 by Emtdaddy1980

I have a Gerber Basic knife I sometimes carry IWB, nice little knife.
