well, if it came down to it, for an everything pistol round. hunting, personal defense, all that stuff, 10mm. MP5 in 10mm would be perfect to me. Bet a lot of people argue with me on that, but hey, what do I know... and if you dont reload, hope you have lots of cash monies for it... if you do reload, then its super cheap. uses all .40 components, just need the brass. 

 

light, charging handle is up front, and doesnt move with the bolt, again: its light and its short. everything your looking for.

expensive... but sounds like your willing to drop some serious cash anyways. 

 

UMP would be another good way to go as well. something else to consider for sure.

All good ideas.  The Just Right Carbine looks interesting too.  I was also just looking at the Thureon carbine that takes Glock mags as well.  She has a Beretta 92 now but I'll probably change that out for a Glock 17 to match mine to keep everything the same for our defense guns.  The PCCs are looking very good though.

 

If she does want to stick with the 92, the CX4 is looking interesting too.

If you are considering a PCC now, a 10mm carbine would be ideal and should have an effective range of about 150yards i would think, maybe more. Using Doubletap ammo, itll get the job done.

Only one is know of is the Thureon Defense GA carbine. Basically an AR that uses glock mags and chambered in pistol calibers. Better IMO than the Just Right Carbine. The JRC doesn't hold bolt open on empty mag.

There are other customs including MP5-style 10mms, Ive heard of a 10mm Thompson (heavy), i dont think theres much else.

The Tavor is definitely on the short list.  I think she would actually like a bullpup, if not I guess I could be forced to keep it;-)

Bullpups are the way to go for 5.56, in my opinion. You don't lose muzzle velocity and the overall length is about the same as a 10 inch AR.

That Thureon is looking really good to me.  I'll have to look into the benefits of the 10mm and see if I want to switch home defense to that caliber since I would like to have a carbine/pistol combo in the same caliber with the same mags.  I like the idea of a his and hers matching set of Thureon 9s and Glock 17s.  Throw in a bag of 33rd mags and we'd be good to go:-)

Glock makes hi-cap mags for the large frames too, i believe they are 26 rounds?

Also look into .45super.

Personally if you are wanting something for the extended range outside the house fight. Get a 16" 5.56 carbine and stick with pistols and training inside the house
