Luckier than me, I have been waiting for over 3 months. Check was cashed in a few weeks. Have called twice and they have told me they are way behind on background checks and emailed me a 6 month extension letter. I don't what is going on.

Now I am scared to ask. Cant imagine there is a problem with my background. Have never failed one even did a transfer last week for a gun I bought with no problem. When I asked last time I called they said they were just running behind. But after seeing how the rest are getting theirs backs in a couple of weeks I am wondering if something else is going on I am not aware of.

I had to send mine back to West Virginia also. Had to amend the address. Told normal turn around time on amending and renewing is 30 days but will probably be longer because they are backed up. But then, I was originally told 90 days to process normally, but they were backed up 9 months, it came 90 days to the day I sent it in.

I got mine back today, when did they start putting a wallet size info card with them? Can you use this to buy at a gun shop or somewhere, just a handy way to have your info on you?It doesn't have a place to sign it though.

According to the ATF, C&R Holders are only exempt from FFL to FFL C&R sales. Anything else requires the same NIC's check as a non licensee. I asked about this, called ATF, and was misinformed. (Maybe not, but Ill go by what the ATF website says)

Q: Does a collector’s license afford any privileges to the licensee with respect to acquiring or disposing of firearms other than curios or relics in interstate or foreign commerce?

No. A licensed collector has the same status under the Gun Control Act (GCA) as a nonlicensee except for transactions in curio or relic firearms.

[27 CFR 478.93]

As far as buying C&R from a gun shop, I dont unless it would be a REALLY good deal. Too many places online with REALLY good deals.

Might be a good idea to call them. When I got my C&R last year they lost my paperwork and I had to resend it.

Im going through the same thing right now, only ATF didnt lose it, the post office did, on top of that, I sold a gun on gunbroker for $800, the guy sent a money order with tracking last week, the PO didnt put it in the box, they forwarded it. Lost my FFL and an 800 MO in less than a month. Guy tells me, no problem, they will see their is no one by your name at the forwarding address and will send it back, be here tomorrow. That was a week ago, still aint here and me and the buyer are trying to get this worked out. Decided if he sends me a reciept, I can cancel and request a new MO and Ill just send him the gun. Been on the phone 4 times in the last 3 weeks with ATF trying to explain how the PO lost my FFL (But got everything else to me). Would you believe the woman at the PO tells me "Oh, you will probably have to call ATF (I already had, 3 times) because its probably stuck in a machine in Chattanooga.
