A good day at the range

Went to Sumac Creek range this morning. two pairs of shooters were leaving as I got there, and I ended up with the range to myself for 3 hours.

150 rounds of 22 and 40 rounds of 30-06 later, I felt I had spent enough money.

My new remington 700 30-06 shoots better than I'm capable of. Every so often I get a good shot off, and at 100 yards, it is easily a sub moa gun.

And my best 5 round group. pull left and right I think is a flinch issue. The low shot at the bottom was a through and through on another target I had set up in front later in the day.

I also took a video of myself taking 2 shots. No one on the range but me, thats why I didnt have hearing protection on, and didn't have to worry about hot/cold range.

I learned a couple things from the video. I developed a flinch in just a couple rounds of 30-06. Now I need to work on getting rid of it. Second, my trigger finger dances all over the place, and I had no idea. Something to really watch in the future. I had a good sight picture the entire time, so I wasn't going to accidentally shoot unsafely, but it seems I don't make a real solid go-nogo shot decision. I also have a patience issue. When I stand up, take a drink, then sit down, load and shoot I get a good shot. when I tried to follow up, the 2nd shot is always significantly worse.

All-in-all, a terrific day.
