So the Court of Public Opinion should carry more weight than the Court of Law?  I'm not defending JV for being an asshole, but I do think we need to remember that Justice is supposed to be blind to the public opinion.  What people think about you shouldn't override what the Law says you are entitled to, whether it is compensation for damages, freedom from wrongful prosecution, or the right to bear arms.

 

The Court of Law has its decisions and its punishments.

 

The Court of Public Opinion has its decisions and its punishments.

 

Sometimes the decisions and punishments between these two spheres overlap, and sometimes they don't.

 

OJ was judged Not Guilty of murder in a Court of Law; he was found Guilty of Murder in the Court of Public Opinion. It happens.
