ZT0200... Leroy's Fault :-)

Well, I thought I was done buying ZT's for a minute. Then, Leroy's mention of his 200 got me looking at it too. Another great purchase. This one feels better in my hand than any of the others. The pivot is a little stiff, but still deploys just fine. I may work on it a little.

Just ever so slightly loosen the tension and it should be fine.  From time to time, ZT's assisted flippers can be a little bit tight.  If you stay in the ZT buying mode, you can always look at the ZT0500.  It is a great knife, but they are a little hard to come by since they are discontinued.

The 0200 isn't assisted. I'm gonna give it some flips and it may get smoother. It probably will need a slight tension adjustment. I just want to flip it enough to take down any slight burs first, if there are any.

 

BTW... my next ZT's will probably be the 566 and the 600. It's gonna be awhile for those.

Didn't know that about the 200.  Always wondered why it was cheaper. Anyway, I had a 350 that didn't flip worth a crap.  I made about a 1/16 - 1/32 of a turn and it fired as it should.  I assume the same should be the case for the non-assisted.  My XM-24 took a ton of work (thousands of flips) to get to the point of flipping fast.

 

I have no idea about when the 600 is supposed to ship.  I am still waiting on my 777, which I doubt I will ever get.

The 600 should be worth waiting for. I'll probably skip getting an XM, but Willis has me talked into a Q36. I just gotta work myself up to dropping Glock money on a knife :).

It took me a while to break down and buy a XM-24.  Was it worth it?  It is a great knife and built like a tank, but it is not worth the secondary market price.  I doubt I will get rid of it, but I won't buy anymore either for several reasons I won't mention.  I just hope the Yuna Assassin will be worth it.  It will be my first custom knife and my most expensive knife purchase.  

 

So far I haven't ran across anything that beats a Sebenza in regards to overall quality.  They aren't very tactical, but they sure are great knives.

Mike:  Glad to see ya got the ZT200.  It's a great thing.  I slicked mine up a bit by takin a toothpick and greasing the lock mechanism with a bit of my best gun grease (...slip 2000, i think...).  Open the knife and look at the lock.  There is a little raised divot  (...i think to keep the lock sliding friction while the knife blade flips open to a minimum...) on the side of the lockface that rubs the blade as the blade opens and closes.  I used a toothpick point of grease to grease the raised divot and the lock face where it contacts the blade when the lock engages, flipped it open and closed a few times, and my opening action improved a bunch.  Take a look and see what ya think.

So far I haven't ran across anything that beats a Sebenza in regards to overall quality.  They aren't very tactical, but they sure are great knives.

I bought a plain and while I really liked it, I didn't love it. Sold it and got a large with micarta inlays....you won't be sorry going with the inlays.

 

Nice 200 also. I've got a 566 on order to go with my other ZT's.

OK, here's the deal... I did the grease trick, and it didn;t do much. Then, I started making small adjustments to the pivot tension, while checking side-to-side blade play. It may have taken as much as 1/4 turn to get it where I feel it was "right". At this point, it works like a flipper should. If you point the knife strait down and break the detent. the blade's weight will push it to lock up. No blade play, and it always deploys with a little wrist action. It's not quite as easy as the 560, but still completely reliable.

 

I've been sitting here going between the 200, 300, and 561. The 200 is my favorite, and it's not even close. That may change when I try to carry it. That warm and fuzzy handle is gonna make a lump in the pocket. With that said, it's the best one-handed manipulation of any of my ZT knives, including the 561.

Mike:  Glad to see ya got things worked out. I may need to adjust the pivot nut a bit too.  I can flip mine fine; but the blade weight alone wont push to lock up.  I like the 200 too; it's about the right size and blade shape.  I like a big knife that ya can carry in a hip pocket.  Your 200 is the exact fit for that service.

If you can find an RJ for Glock money let me know and I'll pick one up too. The cheapest knife of the six he had at Saturday's Blade raffle was $700 and most of the others were between $1000 and $1400.

Mike, I'm sorry I didn't get by the ZT booth for you but there were some issues I had that prevented me from seeing most of the show.  If I get another chance, I'll definitely check one out for you.  And also, go ahead and add the 801 to your list.  Its going to be an incredible knife.
