Is .22LR cooling off yet?

Don't think so yet... Sheesh... AR15 parts half cut in half almost... Do we think .22LR is coming back to being more available??

Not even close.  When it does show in stock somewhere it's usually gone in minutes.

Yup.  By the time gunbot or some other notification pops up, they're sold out.

I know I've stopped looking. When this first broke I was panicked like everyone else. Now reality has set in and I figure what I already have on hand will last quite a while so I don't even look anymore. As soon as everyone else wakes up and realizes the sky is not falling they will come to their senses as well.

I think it's easing...I'm finding it now which I wasn't finding any before.  Prices are high compared to historic amounts but my perception is that the prices are starting to come down too.

I suspect it's going to be quite a while, however, before we see any real return to what we consider "normal"....I'm thinking maybe late summer (assuming some nutcase doesn't shoot up a "gun free zone" and Congress gets a burr up their backside to "do something").

I have to confess to getting caught with my pants down on .22LR ammo. I was good on everything else.

I only had one brick when all this started and haven't gotten any since. So, I'm not gonna let this happen to me again. I'm gonna stock up when I can get my hands on some, even it means I'm contributing to the problem.

I don't think getting set up for a good amount is the problem. The problem as I see it is that there were too many people caught with their pants down who are for whatever reason willing to pay scalped prices on what should be an inexpensive, readily available commodity.

I did not get caught with my pants down in regard to .22, I've got plenty. I still plan on buying more as it come available and I also don't care if people have a problem with that.

Winchester M22  .22LR 1000/PK today @ our WM. $48.37. This is the first time I've seen these come in this year.

Cabelas physical location up here in Louisville had 100+ bricks the other day.

Meanwhile, I have an order for a 1000 ct box of Winchester backordered from them until the end of month...nice!

If it makes you feel better, I didn't see any 1000ct Winchester bricks.

I have bought more 22lr in the last 3 months than I have bought in the last 3 years. It's all been at per dip-shit priceing. I have 500 more rounds coming this week. It's turned into an addiction for me. When all the panic started, I had maybe 250 rounds. I never thought in my wildest dream that we wouldn't be able to go local, and buy a brick of ammo. Never again will it happen to me. Getting ammo at pre retard prices is like catching frogs in South LA.. It takes a sharp eye and a quick hand.

If your'e in the right place at the right time, buy. If not, wait a while. Before all this I was luckily enough to buy 3 bricks for $17 a piece. I have 2 of those still, and last 2 bricks i bought were right at $24 each(with tax). so i haven't shot much, but i won't be caught unprepared. I was able to find a brick at Dunhams about a month ago. And 3 of them lasted all day saturday. Haven't shot much if any either. Mainly been shooting my air rifle ( cause ammo is cheap and easily available), but not near as fun.

AS of January, I had plenty of Federal and Golden Bullet bricks, but was short on quality .22 ammo. Since then 1 I've bought:

CCI Mini Mag HP - 100

Winchester HV HP - 100

Federal AutoMatch - 325

All above at local Walmart at normal price.

Remington Thunderbolt - 500 (bulk package 10 boxes of 50 from Midway) Near normal price but for shipping. Not exactly quality ammo, but my rifles shoot well with 40 grain LRN, so...

Federal HV Match - 500 (bulk package 10 boxes of 50 from Lebanon GS) This is the only "overpriced" buy for me, about $55 & tax. Same bullet weight and velocity as AutoMatch, but better packaging, individually in plastic trays.

Soooo - it's available if you're patient.

Still selling for $45 per box of 325 at the Nashville show. I saw 500 round boxes at $65 with non sold that I could tell.

I didn't need any 22 before this all started, since I have bought a AR with a conversion kit for 22. I have been able to get 3K rounds at normal price from Academy and Wal Mart in 555 or 525 bricks. its all just timing.

And it seems to be getting better I have stopped looking.

Can we start a topic listing all these over priced sellers? Keep it pinned to the forum and put all of these over priced dealers on display so members think twice about spending their money with them. I will start if it OK with TGO.

That's as good a place as any to start with.

I agree. I would love to see Lower Then Dirt go under. Still would like to hear from a MOD if this topic has their blessing.
