You are cordially invited to the annual Old Hickory Sportsmen Friends of NRA Dinner to be held 6pm August 23 at Hendersonville High School, 123 Cherokee Rd, Hendersonville, TN.

We'll have live and silent auctions, full dinner, door prizes, and plenty of games. There will be chances to win guns and other great gear.

Tickets are still only $30.00 per person or $200 for a table of 8 -one of the lowest-price FNRA dinners in the state. For you vendors out there, there are plenty of sponsorship, underwriting and donation options. All sponsors receive program recognition and may hang a banner at the event.

For tickets and more info, email or pm me, or just reply in the thread. Hedersonville is adjacent to Nashville and the location is easily accessible off I-65/Hwy 386/US 31E. Hope to see you there.

Guns & Leather in Greenbrier has announced that they will give away $30.00 in free ammo to anyone who buys 2 tickets to this event at their store. That's a fantastic deal. Free ammo anyone?

We also just received a firearm donation (someone will WIN this gun!) and several more cool silent auction item donations. Tickets are moving as well. This looks to be the best OHS FNRA dinner yet. I'm also working on a "major corporate sponsor" and a few interesting side items.

Yes, if you want the free ammo deal, you gotta head up to Greenbrier. You can buy tix from me or at the door, same price, but no free ammo.

Looking like we'll get a decent crowd. These things are always more fun when there are more people to talk to.

That's a pretty cool idea there. $30 gets you $30 worth of ammo, a free meal and hang out with gunnies for an evening. My wife went to an event this year and tried to win that Savage 22-250. I'd like to win that rifle, sweeeeet for prairie dogs. Good work Len.

Well, there were some great deals to be had, as well as a pretty darn good BBQ dinner. The best darn potato salad I've put in my fat mouth.

I was pretty shocked at how cheap all the guns were auctioned for. Here are the two that really stuck in my mind.

Limited Edition (1 of 1,150) Weatherby Orion D’Italia O/U 12GA Shotgun. This went for $1100. I don't think you can get a standard version of this for less that about $1500.

Limited Edition (1 of 1,100) Kimber Custom II “NRA Freedom Warrior†.45. I think this one went for about $800.

There were 5 or 6 other guns that were given away or auctioned off, but I came home with none. I didn't really have the money to buy anything, so I was hoping to hear one of my ticket numbers called, but that didn't happen either. The one rifle I did think about bidding on was a Marlin Bolt Action Rifle .17HMR SS, but Len's pockets were a bit deeper than mine. Either way, all the money spent went to a good cause. Hope to attend the next one.

I did not win the Marlin -someone came in late and beat me to it.

TDR is right -there were some amazing deals to be had. Many people left before the live auction began -people with money to spend who had another event to attend. This opened the door to bargains.

The Weatherby was an amazing deal, and I wanted it bad, but was saving my powder for other items that I also ended up not winning. Oh well. The GF was outbid on the little Smith and the Kimber went a bit high for me.

As for other TGO members at the event, Warbird was there as was Johnny Ringo (who never posts). I put out TGO cards on every table so maybe we'll pick up a couple of new members. Would have been nice to see some more TGO folks there.

Until next year!

Sounds like a great time. I didn't expect there to be any guns there with it being held at a high school.

As an NRA member I feel it my right to ask: Why is the NRA holding an event at a place where guns aren't allowed (Hendersonville High School)?

I have no clue, but I'd guess it was because the location (HHS) was free or cheap.

Guns were present. 8 by my count. HHS gives us the space for free (they got a grant from the NRA Foundation a few years back). Guns are rendered inoperable for the occasion.

I'd love to move the event to a carry-friendly place, but "free" is hard to beat. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to chime in.
